The HT307 Back Probe Pins have many uses, such as back probing, piercing,
and pin-tip probing. The fine tip can slide past weather pack seals to probe
connectors. They are sometimes referred to as acupuncture probes, in which they
are used for piercing the insulation of wires to allow for automotive electrical
measurements without causing damage to the wires. Additionally they can be used
as pin-tip probes while working with small circuit boards.
If a pin should bend or break during use, the set of 5 probes also comes with
20 replacement pins. To replace, use a hex key to remove the set screw and
damaged pin. Then simply put in new pin and replace the set screw. The probe has
a female banana plug for use with your oscilloscope.
Firstly, it's a back pinning probe. In fact, it's the smallest diameter back pinning probe that we know of. This is essential for probing today's small, fragile connector. It is also very sharp, so it slides past connector seals with ease. This product solves most of the problems associated with traditional back-pinning methods.
Secondly, it's a piercing probe. Its small diameter, extra sharp pin makes it ideal for piercing the insulation on small gauge wires where traditional piercing tools might cause damage.
Finally, here's the best part-it's repairable. If the pin becomes damaged or useless in any way, simply take your pocket screwdriver, remove the set screw, pull out the old pin and install the new one! There's no need to replace the whole probe.
